War veteran project - plans and reality

6. května 2024

Mikov's tradition includes working with and supporting the armed forces. The War Veteran Project has brought a system and motivation to this tradition that has lasted for years. We regularly contribute to the Military Solidarity Fund and at the same time launch new products.

As humans, we all have one thing in common - we go with what we see now and often make quick and impulsive decisions. But truly great things can't be thought up or done overnight. That's why it's good to have long-term plans and to act on them. The war veteran project is one such long-term plan for Mikov.

Giving the amount from the sale of a series of knives to the Military Solidarity Fund is a very simple principle. When we plant new trees in our garden, they gradually bear more and more fruit. So the more than 400,000 crowns that Mikov has already sent from the Fund's project in this way is still just the beginning. And money is far from the only fruit.

Mikov is first and foremost a company that focuses on small-scale industrial production and employs dozens of people in its facilities. The limited edition General White trench knife, the Storm, Repetitor and now the Golak have been challenges for our technicians and designers and knifemakers, giving them new experiences. These will, of course, be capitalized on in the next models we bring to market.

In addition to the money raised and the technical development, there is a third fruit in the form of the information that the War Veteran Project sends to Czech society. And it's not just photographs, brochures and press releases that Mikov publishes for each knife. The project has inspired many meetings, reconnected dozens of people with each other, held talks with children, humanitarian auctions, exhibitions and even produced a documentary film "Repetitor - We Cannot Forget". Thanks to all this, Czech soldiers and their service are being talked about. Their service in missions has also contributed to the fact that today we are a full and respected member of NATO, which does not stand alone in the face of threats to our freedom. And that is more important to our country and its future than we sometimes realise.
