Narex - about
The history of hand tool production in Bystřice u Benešova dates back to 1919, when, after the establishment of the Czech Republic, the manufacturer Václav Richter laid the foundation for a company producing quality tools for woodworking. The company grew from its early beginnings into a company of European and world renown. Over the years, it gradually grew, and the development did not stop even during World War II, when two-shift operation was introduced. After nationalisation in 1948, several gradual organisational changes took place and in 1958 the plant was assigned as an independent operation to the newly established national enterprise Nářadí Praha (later Narex Praha).
After 1970, the production doubled in volume. A new trade name and the protected brand Narex were introduced. This name was quickly adopted on both the domestic and foreign markets. 1989 saw the plant at the peak of its development, both in terms of production volume and the number of employees.
The political situation and social developments brought about a fundamental change. Individual plants within the national enterprise Narex Praha became independent and transformed into joint stock companies. The Bystřice plant became Narex Bystřice a.s. The privatisation process followed and was completed in 1994, when NAREX BYSTŘICE s.r.o. was established. Under the trademark Narex, it became one of the most important manufacturers of hand tools on the domestic and foreign markets. More than 40% of the plant's production is regularly exported all over the world, tools from Bystřice have found their customers in 45 countries. In recent years, technology has been modernised in the production of both chisels and screwdrivers.
NAREX BYSTŘICE s.r.o. has been on the hand tool market for almost 95 years.
