The first knife of the War Veteran project. Contribution of 500 CZK from each sold piece of this knife on the account of the Military Solidarity Fund. While ordinary members of the assault units were also armed with a common type of M-1917 assault knife, its officer's variant has a representative design. In the case of offensive units, it directly symbolized the hierarchical position. In other types of troops units, this knife had the character of a fashion accessory, which helped commanders in combat substitute the saber.
The length of the knife 33 cm, with a central blade tip and a false edge, fully respected the needs of trench warfare. o protect the hands of a fighting soldier, the knife was equipped with a guard in shape of elliptical cross. The knife handle consisted of two wooden extensions attached with three rivets to the knife bar. The M-1917 knife was worn in a steel sheath with a leather knot. Since 1917, when the knife was introduced into the Austro-Hungarian Army, it has been a welcomed prey weapon. Due to its simple design, it became a pattern for a number of other assault knives and was used in the armament of armies until the end of World War II.
One of the important commanders of the Czech military history was Army General Josef Bílý. As an exceptional commander, he proved his skills both in the Austro-Hungarian army on the Eastern and Italian fronts, and in building the army of the newly formed Czechoslovakia. He did not change his attitude and values ??even after leaving the reserve, when he actively joined the resistance after the rise of Nazism. He initiated the establishment and then himself became the head of the underground resistance organization called Defense of the Nation. Its first commander became due his generally recognized military authority with high moral and patriotic credit. "Long live Czechoslovakia! Dogs, fire! ”Were his last words before the execution squad in 1941, which only emphasized the strength of his personality and the values ??to which he remained faithful until the end of his life. In the inheritance of this exceptional commander remained a large number of weapons, which he not only carried, but also received as a sign of respect from his subordinates. You can see many of them in the collections of the Military History Institute in Prague-Žižkov. You will not find his M-1917 knife in officer's modifications here, because it is part of a private collection. Apart from the fact that we want to pay tribute to the general, who was a real soldier and a model of military honor, this is another reason why we decided to make a copy of it.

Our product - a faithful copy of the M-1917 officer's knife - we tried to make it in such a way to capture as faithfully as possible the skills of the knife makers who made it and to give you the feeling of a symbol that differentiated the commander from the soldier.
Each knife has its own unique serial number 1 - 200. For the knife blade we used AISI 420 stainless steel. A brass alloy was used to make the fittings, the coat of arms and the front of the sheath. A steel and cowhide were used for the sheath.Its surface finish is matte black. The knife is delivered in a padded wooden box. Each knife has a certificate of originality.
