UTON with combat experience from UNPROFOR missions

5. prosince 2022

You don't often see UTONs that have been through combat. And that's a good thing, because nobody likes war. But they still exist, and it's always a treat to see them for yourself. We had that privilege on Saturday when we gratefully accepted an invitation to Leškovice, a village near Havlíčkův Brod, where veterans of UNPROFOR missions gathered at the local municipal office for an exhibition.

In two relatively small rooms, all those who weighed their way despite the snow and fog could see not only a wealth of unique archival and historical documents, but also the remains of mortar shells that fell on the TANGO-23 Repetitor post and killed two of our soldiers - Luděk Zeman and Petr Valeš. The TV screen then showed a video edited from what our soldiers filmed themselves in action, when they had no idea if they would be able to return home safely.

During the morning, of course, we also found time to further develop the plans that we started to make together during our first meeting in September at the Prague Community Centre for War Veterans. Among other things, we looked for, and probably found, a way to make the exhibition reach as many people as possible next year. It deserves it not only for its quality, but especially for the message it carries. And of course, special knives were not missing from our plans either.

Our support for the Army of the Czech Republic and especially for military veterans is long-standing and systematic. The biggest contribution to this is the War Veteran project, thanks to which we have already contributed CZK 300,000 to the Military Solidarity Fund. Thanks to the number of Storm and Repetitor knives sold, further contributions are rapidly accumulating and will be handed over to the Fund at the earliest appropriate opportunity.
