What knife in winter for the countryside

If you are deciding to buy a knife, you probably always ask yourself the basic question first - do I want a fixed blade knife or a folding knife from Mikov? Each has its advantages and disadvantages. A fixed blade knife is obviously more durable, but on the other hand it is usually heavier and harder to carry. The better foldability and weight of closing knives is in turn balanced by lower strength and more complicated handling. And of course this is also true in winter conditions.
So if you really plan to use the knife in the winter outdoors for work, for example to prepare wood for a fire, the choice seems clear - a fixed blade. Mikov makes a variety of them, and the specific type depends on your preferences - some people prefer EDCs like Patron or Leaf, others prefer hunting knives, where the typical representative is Forest or one of the KLASIK hunting knives. And if someone prefers military knives, Mikov offers UTON, Storm or Repetitor.
If you would still choose a closing knife for the winter woods, it is a good idea to think about the type of blade lock. For easier handling in gloves, a backlock type lock is more comfortable, as you'll find on Mikov's traditional Fixir or Hunter hunting knives. And Predator automatic knives can also be opened with one hand in the winter.
But definitely keep in mind that in the winter outdoors, a critical situation can easily arise suddenly where a sharp blade will be needed. And in such a case, it's definitely true - better to have an ordinary Fishlet or pocket Stovka on you than a quality outdoor knife in your closet at home.
