Linerlock fuse

Several fuse systems are used to secure the folding knives against self-closing. In our blog, we have already talked about the backlock system, which is known mainly from the hunting knives Fixir. Today we want to look at the next method - linerlock
This fuse was invented by the American knife cutter Michael Walker in the 1980s. Unlike the backlock, there is no need for a button to be placed on the back of the knife; the fuse is built into the knife itself.
How does it work? A metal sheet, called ”insert” is placed on the in the knife. This is tightened when the blade is opened and, when fully opened, closes against the blade end inside the handle. At the moment we want to close the knife, move the insert to the side and the blade will release.
In our knives you will find linerlock, for example, Praktik folding knives or elegant outdoor knives Hiker.
Each safety system has its pros and cons. When using the linerlock, it is necessary to take into account that releasing the fuse will require a bit more precision and gentleness than in the backlock, where the fuse is released simply by pressing the palm on the back of the knife grips. On the other hand, the advantage is that the blade can not be accidentally released when the blade is roughly manipulated.
